White Bathroom Round Up

So after two and a half years of using this gross bathroom as our family's main bath, we have totally gutted this bad boy and said goodbye to all its sad features.
What the bathroom looked like when we moved in.

This is our pre real gut reno so it wouldn't be AS gross

So now we are gutted... We took down a wall and made this bathroom much larger so it can have a large soaking tub, two vanities, and a large storage unit, as well as a door to the master bedroom, which are also gutting to make that larger.

While Bo does the work and I wait until I can come in and do the pretty things, I scour pinterest to find pieces of my dream bathroom.  I love white bathrooms.  They are so classic and clean and timeless - and you can always change up the style by changing your decor and not having to redo all the hard fixed pieces.

Here's my round up.

Anthropologie Knock Off Pom Pom Pillow

I love Anthropolgie, and especially love their bedding and home decor, but cannot afford the price for there large and adorable pillows.

One day they had an extra 25% off their sale and I found a super cute table runner. It was full of colour and super cute. The thing was I didn't ever use table runners, but bought it anyway thinking I might find a use for it.

Light bulb! I could use this runner to make a super cute pillow for my bed and save me some money. So I sewed the runner in half and added batting to make a long pillow and diy'd these super cute pom poms and added them on. And boom, my knock off pillow that ended up costing $12.

Same thinking for the next pillow. I bought this fabric from Anthropolgie on sale with an extra 25% off. It was a tea towel from their Christmas winter line. I sewed it in half, added a pillow insert and voilĂ , instant cute pillow!

Dresser Before and After Project 2

We changed all the closets in the house to have a shelf and rods instead of dressers in the room.  This gave me the chance to refinish all the dressers in our house.  This one was Bo's and I have always not liked it, so I was up to the challenge.

I bought this multi coloured fish scale vinyl from someone online and didn't have a place for it.  When I saw Bo's dresser, I realized the vinyl was the perfect size.  It's such a boring shape of dresser, so a pattern would really help it, I thought.

I attached the vinyl on to the drawers and then made my own chalk paint and painted the frame a grey to compliment the pattern.  The knobs were on the dresser already, so I just reused those.  Then I finished off the dresser with a soft wax.

Here's the before and after...

Dresser Before and After Project 1

Since I'm on mat leave this year I was thinking what I could do to have some me time, and I decided that since I love refinishing furniture, why not do that.

This is my first project, and I'm in love with how it turned out!  This used to be Jet's dresser in his room, and after it was done I couldn't believe I let it sit in his room untouched for almost two years.  I love the retro feel this dresser has and thought that the white and ombre green would work lovely with it, and it did!  I made my own chalk paint and used a soft wax on top to finish it.

To get the ombre look, start at the bottom drawer with your darkest colour.  Once that is painted, add a couple spoonfuls of white paint to the green and stir.  Paint the next drawer up.  Continue adding white paint to get the next shade up in your project and enjoy your results!

 We bought a House!

We bought a house and just barely moved in at the end of September.  It's a fixer-upper, so we wanted to blog about our progress and show before and after photos and stuff...

Here are the before pictures...  I forgot to take a picture of the front of the house, so I'll have to post those later
